Benjamin Handwerker joins Echo as CTO

Benjamin Handwerker is Echo’s Chief Technology Officer. He is a former NASA engineer with a Master’s in Mechanical Engineering from Rice University. He builds the systems that keep clinic patient threads secure and reliable.

What he owns at Echo

Benjamin leads engineering for:

  • Clinic messaging infrastructure. The Mac-based send rail and clinic numbers patients text. No patient app required.
  • ekco. Check-ins and running-low reorder texts on the schedule the clinic approves.
  • HIPAA infrastructure. BAA-first signup, encryption, and controls behind PHI in those threads.

When clinics evaluate communication software, they ask whether the team has shipped regulated systems before. Benjamin’s background is part of that answer.

We do not overclaim clinical outcomes here. The work is product capability and design discipline: staff-approved copy, audit-friendly sends, and infrastructure that fails loud instead of silent.
